Poonhill short trek starts with sightseeing of Kathmandu valley after your arrival. We’ll have guided visit of Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath, Bouddha and Kathmandu Durbar square. Next day we will be catching a scenic flight of about 25mins to Pokhara. The Ghorepani Poonhill short trek starts from Nayapul. The trail follows the main streets of Birethanti (1000m), winding through the bamboo forests and past waterfalls to Tikhedhunga and to Ghorepani. The following day makes the early-morning excursion to Ghorepani Poon Hill (3210m) that provides close and an unobstructed view of the sunrise over the high Himalayas. Having breakfast at Tadapani, the right-handed short trail makes way to Ghandruk. From Ghorepani, we descend for the beautiful Gurung (name of a community) village of Ghandruk on the lap of the Annapurnas. The village is known for its traditional houses, rich culture and the great landscape and offering some spectacular mountains views. Again, on the very next day, we will drive to Pokhara. In the evening, a boating trip on Phewa Lake will be followed where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Annapurna Himalaya Range. On our whole trek, we will be staying and resting on the mountain lodges called the tea houses for our food and accommodation.
Ghorepani is densely forested with rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal. Every spring it is tremendous to watch these forests in bloom with the panorama of the high mountains on the skyline. A short trek of Ghorepani Poonhill and Ghandruk requires no earlier experience of trekking or any kinds of special technique. Pick up you from your hotel in Pokhara, After having your breakfast, A car drive for about 1 and half hour through large village Lumle brings you to Nayapul. The Ghorepani Poonhill trail follows the main streets of Birethanti (1000m), winding through the bamboo forests and past waterfalls with plunge pools inviting you for a refreshing swim. After lunch in Sudame, we gently climbing up the side of the valley to reach Hille (1510m) and Tikhedunga (1540m), overnight in guest house.
Our trek start with steeply climbing in the stone staircase up to Ulleri, it is wise to start early morning so you will not get swept, after reaching large Magar village of Ulleri (2080m). You walk up besides the cascading river through refreshingly cool oak and Rhododendron forest. The day destination Ghorepani (2750m) is reached after about an hour past Nangathanti. Ghorepani is famous hill point to enjoy close view of snow capped peaks. Overnight at guest house
We make a very early morning about an hour excursion to Poon Hill (3210m), one of the best Himalaya viewpoints in Nepal, providing an unobstructed view of the sunrise over the high Himalayas. The spectacular panorama stretches from Dhaulagiri I and Tukuche to Nilgiri Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, Lamjung Himal and the Mt. Fishtail (Machhapuchhare) that make your breath and eyes caught.
Get back to Ghorepani about 40 minutes trek down, After breakfast trek starts descending steeply through the dense moss-covered forest with rich bird life to Tadapani (2540m). You can encounter with monkeys and wide varieties of birds. The right-hand trail makes a short, steep descent among rocks to a stream crossing then leads out a ridge towards Ghandruk. Ghandruk is the second largest Gurung village in Nepal. You can explore the maze-like streets of this thriving Gurung settlement. Enjoy a good mountain view of Annapurna South and Fishtail.
Today you gradually decline down to the village. The trail passes through small hamlets, terraced rice fields and subtropical forests giving a very beautiful glimpse. We will mostly follow the ever-flowing Modi Khola along ease and pleasant walk to Birethanti. The trail makes a steep, sometimes treacherous descent on a narrow path alongside the stream. The descent becomes gentler as the route reaches Nangathanti. We continue our walk to Nayapul and catch a private vehicle to get to Pokhara. We spend a beautiful night in Pokhara city.
