Everest Luxury Trek
Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time for for this trekking?

Mainly we have 2 seasons for Everest Base Camp trekking, the autumn (September, October & November) and spring (March, April & May)season are good when weather is pleasant, The monsoon rains have cleared the sky of dust and the views are often spectacular, clear sky, flowers are in blooming, good trail condition. The winter Dec, Jan and Feb is also good; Dec is Feb is better than Jan, only colder and some time foggy weather. The summer ( June, July, August is rainy season so visibility can be less and rain will be issue, considering Summer June is ok as in general rain will nearly from last week of June. The benefit to do the trek in off season is there are not many tourists, very easy to find the best rooms in the lodge.

How fit do I have to be?

Hiking to in this region is considered fairly strenuous trekking, some previous small hiking and trekking experience is the plus point for the trip however, people have no previous trekking or mountaineering experience also can do the trek easily. People who have good physical condition and able to work 5 to 6 hours daily in the rocky trail can do the trek. We tailor-made the trip itinerary depends on people’s fitness level.

Do I really need to use a guide for any Everest region trek?

It depends on your skills and experience but I would almost always recommend some kind of help for the logistics. Long treks are a maze of details. Also, a great guide will make your overall experience more memorable.

How difficult is the trek?

Everest luxury trek is considered moderate to Strenuous trek and suitable for those who are moderately fit. The treks involve more walking up and down and climb to higher altitudes, where you will be rewarded with close-up views of big mountains. One should work often rough trails, rock and boulder at least 5-6 hours each day and crossing 4500m above high altitude passes, the treks will reach 5550 m at Kalapathar. People have general physical fitness can do the trekking, If have previous hiking and camping experience is easier to do the trek, you can train yourself for this trek, we have 76 years old man did the trek recently.

How should I prepare for the trek?

The main things in the trek are one should able to walk 5-6 hours every day in a rough rocky trail, so everyday short walk up to 1 hour,1,2 months before the trek is best suggestion, jogging, yoga will be also advisable.

Can I trek as solo women, is it safe?

There is never problem trekking with solo women or join in the group, we have operated trek for many single female traversals our guide and porters are honest, trustworthy, reliable and carefully chosen for your trips, you will not face any problem trekking with your guide, you will meet many like-minded travelers during the trail.

Can I drink the local water during Everest trek?

You can use the chlorine tablets and used the same water as locals do. bottled water also available throughout the trek but the prices are expensive, you can get boiled or hot water also in the guest house, wise is get the water purification tablets and use the normal water.

Can I charge my gadgets?

Yes, you can charge batteries along the trek (US$2-3 per hour) most of the guesthouses have electricity facilities. You may want to consider bringing a solar charger which is now widely available.

.Can I buy a Sim Card in Nepal and will it work on the trek?

You can buy the Ncell and NTC sim very easily ( you need a passport photo and passport copy).  you can buy it at the Airport also on arrival. It worked at most places during the trekking.

Bank and ATM services are available or not?

Yes, you will have facilities like bank and ATM service in Namche Bazaar and Lukla. In both the mentioned places there are banks and ATM services. But it’s better to carry cash as it’s uncertain to function.

Am I too old to do this trek?

We don’t think so you are too old, recently we have arranged the trek for 76 years old man he did it very easily with taking 2 days more time. There are many trekkers who are older 60s walking much better than your trekkers. And remember the oldest lady to climb Everest was 73 when she did it. And the oldest men to climbed Everest were 76 years old from Nepal.

Will I see Everest from Base Camp?

No, the base camp is too near to give you a view. However, you can see the top of Everest from Namche and when you are walking to the base camp. The best views are from Kala Patthar. The sun rises over the Everest so the best light over the peak is in the evening. But in the evenings many times clouds will rule.

What if I get sick while on trek?

It depends on the nature of sickness. Normally if you get sick you will descend to a lower altitude with help of support staff. But if the case is critical we will arrange emergency helicopter evacuation service. Our guide will take immediate action according to the situation. Altitude sickness can affect everyone while trekking including young and healthy people and is a genuine concern in Khumbu.  If you feel dizzy, suffer palpitations or severe headaches, return immediately to a lower altitude. Do not take altitude sickness lightly. It can be fatal!

These are the questions we are often asked and we hope that you will find the answers useful. We are often asked the above questions and we hope that you will find the answers useful. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or just want to have a chat about the trek.
