Nar Phu Valley short trek is specially designed for short time travelers. The combination of glaciers, remote villages, narrow canyons, lovely forests, peaks, passes, Gompas and distinct culture make the trek is an amazing Trek to the newly opened area. Nar Phu Valley Short Trek is a Venture into a remote part of the country that very few people get to see and experience.
Nar Phu Valley Trek will give you a chance to experience picturesque medieval villages, narrow gorges, herds of blue sheep and a spectacular Cliffside trail, over one of the region’s highest trekking passes. This exotic land, visited by a very few trekkers, is still rich in medieval Tibetan culture, which was kept intact for centuries. Filled with dramatic mountain views and magnificent alpine scenery, in Tibet-like flavor- also well off the beaten path, this is probably the best-known tourist area of the Annapurna trekking routes.
In this region, the vegetation gradually changes from alpine to sub-alpine scrub. It is a natural habitat of blue sheep and snow leopard. Nar Phu Valley Trek combines high peaks and passes, glaciers, remote villages, narrow canyons, beautiful forests, fantastic rock formations, yaks, Gompas and warm, welcoming culture. Valley has around 300 native inhabitants depending mainly on yak herding and salt trade. Beautiful medieval Phu village is the best place to understand the real lifestyle of the local Bhote communities. Nepal government’s decision to open up Nar and Phu to tourists has evoked a little enthusiasm among the villagers, whose rural lifestyle continues. Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) also extended its network to include Nar and Phu Valley and is preparing a suitable tourism development plan for this undiscovered region.
The trek starts from driving to Koto from Kathmandu and from Pisang we can drive back to Kathmandu. We can add Tilicho lake, Throng la pass or trek up to Manang valley also after the Nar and Phu village visit. Along with spending plenty of time in those colorful, traditional villages, we will also explore the high alpine valleys above Phu, including Himlung Base Camp and crossing Kang La Pass, from Nar to Ngwal on the Pisang route.
