Purushotam Timalsena, known as Mr. Puru, is the Founder and Managing Director of Above the Himalaya Trekking (p) Ltd. In the field of trekking and tours in Nepal, the name Puru is popular among travelers. Puru has been leading treks, tours, and adventure holidays for over a decade. He has specialized in treks and tours throughout Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, and India.

In 2007, Puru Timaslena established Above the Himalaya trekking to provide the best travel services to fellow travelers.

Puru’s vast knowledge and boundless enthusiasm for tourism have enabled him to create a successful and leading trekking agency. Puru has completed numerous trekking and mountaineering training courses. He still explores different parts of the country and especially enjoys introducing new routes to the clients who travel with his team.

He is very reliable and free-frank. He loves sharing his knowledge and exciting experiences with others. His pleasant character and cooperative nature endeared him to all. He is joyful that he can employ some of his family members and too many others.

Being a responsible citizen of Nepal and loyal to her, Puru aims for a responsible tourism approach to achieve the triple-bottom-line outcomes of sustainable development, i.e., economic growth, environmental integrity, and social justice. He has also been involved in various social welfare sectors since the company’s establishment.

He is also involved in many charity and non-profit organizations for social work. He has helped with the library, school building, and Computer education for  Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality. He established The Himalayan Library at Shami Bhanjyang Higher Secondary School. He is the charter president of the Lions Club of Kathmandu tourists and MJf lion, a General Member of Village Tourism Promotion Forum-Nepal, Nepal Mountaineering Association, and Kathmandu Environmental Project ( KEEP). He is Treasurer at TAAN ( Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal) for the 2022-2024.

Purushotam Timalsena has a passion for his own country, Nepal. He has a great love for the beautiful nature in the neighboring countries. He is a free-frank, kind personality and very reliable; he loves and is happy sharing his knowledge and exciting experiences with others.

Purushotam Timalsena initially started as a guide; the tourism industry is his perfect business. Since 2001, he has successfully led many trekking groups in the Himalayan mountain range. He is proud to say that until now. He never once failed to guide all his clients to the top of mountain peaks.

Purushotam Timalsena was born in mid-Western Nepal, in the small and remote village of Jwalamukhi (Rural Municipality, Nepal), ward no. 4 Pursuk.

He is located in the Dhading district of the Annapurna-Manaslu mountain range. He spent his childhood in Pursuk. Being a farmer’s son, Puru had to start work at an early age. It wasn’t always easy to combine work and study, but his center and willpower proved healthy, and he accomplished his education in Dhola. His pleasant nature and cooperative nature endeared him to all.

At the age of 17, Purushotam went to Kathmandu for further education. His background did not give him many options, so he was happy to register for a Business Study course. The early days of his stay in Kathmandu were not carefree.

Despite many challenges and a lack of money and support, Puru completed his course and reaped the advantage of developing into a robust, independent, compassionate person.

Although Puru  Timalsena had no support during his enterprise to build up his experience in the travel industry. With a view to one day owning his own travel business. He persevered and finally reached his goal of creating his private travel company, Above the Himalayan Trekking Company. He is joyful that he can employ some of his members and too many others.

The earlier 22  years of challenging but exciting work have given Puru Timalsena a kind appreciation of the needs of international travelers. He has gained a lot of knowledge of mountain tourism.

Thus, he can share his experience and knowledge about trekking and all the possibilities in the Himalayan region. This includes the local traditions, the different religions, and the respect that this beautiful part of the world deserves to make him the best trip planner.
