The history behind the Pathivara Mata  temple:

People greatly believe in the Goddess as she possesses supernatural powers that fulfill devotees’ wishes. She exhibits the Goddess Durga, who is also known as Kali, Chandi, Maha Maya, Maha Rudri, etc. She talked about the history of this significant Temple.

The history tells the story of local shepherds losing hundreds of their sheep. At the same place where the Temple stands today, hundreds of sheep were lost while grazing. Then, the worried shepherds got a dream in which the Goddess urged them to carry out the formalized detriment of the sheep. Also, she suggests building a memorial in her honor. Magically, after offering the sacrifice, all lost herds suddenly returned.

This is why the ritual of offering animal sacrifices developed. The story of the lost sheep gave birth to the ritual of presenting animal sacrifices. Nevertheless, the Pathibhara Mata temple evolved from devotees pleasing the Goddess with simple and selfless acts of kindness and prayer to offering animal sacrifices. The actual meaning of sacrifice in Hinduism depicts the sacrifice of the ego and greed of the person.
