Overview of Nepal Winter Trek/Tour

Nepal winter trek and tour is designed for travelers in the cold and wintertime. As we know, Nepal is best known for the world’s most incredible mountain range. Nepal boasts eight of the world’s ten highest peaks, including Mount Everest—the tallest peak. Above the Himalayas, trekking has been operating the best treks in Nepal, offering an astonishing diversity of trekking and sightseeing attractions full of adventure opportunities.

If you are looking for isolation and an unbelievable outlook, the winter season in Nepal is a great time to trek. You can utilize your winter Leisure time to explore Nepal and benefit from your life experience during the Winter Holiday. Nepal’s winter treks are breathtaking, and highly diverse climatic conditions are in the country’s north and south. One can truly appreciate the natural beauty in Nepal during the winter season trekking.

Best Winter Treks of Nepal

The most popular Nepal winter treks, like the Ghandruk Trek, Ghorepani Trek, Namche Bazaar Trek, Everest Easy Trek, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, etc., are done this time. The advantage of winter trekking is you will find the trekking trails and villages with fewer trekkers and enjoy the beauty of the Himalayas in solitude. There would be low season airfare, off-season hotels, transportation rates, and many other causes; travelers can have quality services and facilities at a low cost during this Trek. You will experience the hospitality of the locals in Nepal during your winter holidays.

As we know, Nepal has diverse climatic conditions, so you can select the winter vacation destinations in Nepal to enjoy the hills and snowy climatic treks. During the Nepal winter treks, there is usually snowfall only at the higher elevations, but brick winds and colder temperatures generally confine trekking to lower elevations. During the winter trekking in Nepal, you can enjoy snow-capped breathtaking panoramic long-range mountain views of the Himalayas: Kathmandu (Temple City in the World) and Pokhara, the natural wonder of Nepal.

Poon hill hot spring trek

Poonhill Hot Spring Trek is easy to walk around Gurung villages. This is the best Nepal winter trek. This Nepal winter trek goes via dense Rhododendron forest and offers one of the best Himalayan viewpoints from trekking trails. Annapurna Poonhill Hot Spring trekking is organized in Ghorepani and Tatopani, which are famous for their stunning close views of snowcapped peaks. Tatopani offers a relaxing and amusing time bathing in natural hot spring water.

Ghorepani hot spring trek presents Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m), Fishtail (6997m), Annapurna South, Himchuli, and other famous mountains amazingly. The best time to visit hot spring trekking is between the autumn and spring when a blanket of impeccable white snow covers rows of Himalayan Mountain peaks.

Poonhill hot spring Nepal winter treks begin at Naya pool, which is about a one-hour drive from beautiful Pokhara or a flight from Kathmandu. The Annapurna hot spring trekking continues from Nayapul and climbs towards Tikhedunga. We have a gentle climb through pasture and cultivated fields to the charming and friendly village of Ghorepani.

This village offers hospitality you’ll never forget. Amiable ethnic groups and people with traditional lifestyles and customs will certainly break your heart. The Poonhill trek passes through the beautiful Gurung village, which has an outstanding landscape and a variety of flora and fauna. You can study the Gurung culture, tradition, and living style.

Clothing for the Nepal Winter Treks/Tour

In Nepal you will experience a wide range of climates, so take both light and warm clothing in casual and comfortable styles. You can check your traveling time and can bring the clothing accordingly for the tour. Mostly warm clothes do work. If you are going for trekking you need trekking equipment and accessories.

Comfortable trekking shoes are recommendable for the Nepal winter trek. Our advice is to make sure you ‘wear’ your walking boots/shoes for several weeks before your trip – you’ll be so much more comfortable if you do so. Sandals with rugged bottoms are good for hiking around town and wearing in showers.

You will need your toiletries and towels  for your Nepal winter trek. And you’ll also need your little medical kit, sewing repair kit, and a good headlamp with extra bulbs and batteries. Nepal is facing a load-shedding problem so everyday electricity cut-off occurs. It is long hours in the summertime, and most of our chosen hotels have Generator back up but at night it may not run so bring the headlamps for convenience.

You can store the luggage in the hotels so you can also bring better clothing for looking good while around the city like Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Here are some things you might want to bring from home for your Nepal winter trek.

  • Walking/hiking, trekking, river shoes – broken in.
  • Clothes you can layer. Jacket, T-shirts, fleece, windbreaker, shorts, lightweight pants, sports pants, gloves & sun hat (for summer and autumn season, not a lot of clothes).
  • A nice shirt/pants for nightlife
  • Good camera – this country is a feast for the eyes and a photographer’s dream!
  • Pocket-size Flashlight (you can buy it here if need be, but there are always power cuts, so have it handy! (It seems like the lights go off whenever you are in an unfamiliar toilet.)
  • A sarong (for girls) and/or a lightweight towel.
  • Ladies, if you like wearing a little make-up when you go out, bring it. It is hard to find here. Most of the makeup here is weird, cheap stuff. Just bring a couple of things that make you feel happy for the party nights!

Shopping in Nepal

If you want to buy some new clothes in Kathmandu after your Nepal winter trek you can go for out of Thamel. You can get Western-style clothes in Durbar Marg, Asan, Kathmandu Mall, and various other new rising shopping centers. You can get designer label clothes for literally a few dollars, custom-made jeans, the price is much cheaper here but the quality compromises that never meets the Western Standards.

Meals during Nepal winter trek

Breakfast is available in the hotels 2 to 5-star hotels offer a buffet breakfast with a choice of foods, for lunch our guide will take you to a good restaurant with choices of food from Nepali to western menu, you can tell them what sort of food you like and can choose the restaurant accordingly.

For Dinner in the city, you can go out there is plenty of nice restaurants out of Kathmandu and Pokhara you can eat at the hotels. During the Nepal winter trek, you will have 3 meals a day a simple meal at the tea house. Sleep in the local guest house.

Hotels Standards

Budget to 5-star hotels are available during Nepal winter trek, we can choose the hotels as per your interest and budget, all the hotels we choose are located centrally and with unique charm, clean rooms, and friendly staff. During Nepal winter trek in the mountain you will stay in  basic tea house lodge room.
