Weather and Season for the Short Bhutan Tour

Weather is an important factor when planning a short Bhutan tour, as it affects comfort, visibility, and daily activities. There are four major seasons in Bhutan and each season offers a new form of traveling experience. Choosing the right time helps make the short Bhutan tour smooth and enjoyable.

The spring between March and May is one of the pleasantest seasons. It is a very pleasant climate, warm days and cool evenings. Strolling in Paro and Thimphu is easy with valleys being filled with blossoms and walking tours. This season is suitable for travelers joining a short Bhutan tour from Nepal who prefer clear days and cultural exploration.

Autumn, from late September to November, is also another ideal time. After the monsoon the skies are mostly clear and temperatures are mostly comfortable during the day. This is the popular season for sightseeing and hiking Tiger’s Nest. Many festivals also occur during autumn which adds cultural value to the trip.

Winter months of December to February are dry and cold, particularly at night. Summer from June to August is rainy, however the countryside is green and peaceful. We will direct you on clothing and preparation depending on your month of travel.

Food and Drink during the Tour

Food is an enjoyable part of the short Bhutan tour, and meals are arranged carefully to suit travelers. During the short Bhutan tour, meals are usually taken at hotels and selected local restaurants. Breakfast is served at the hotel and consists of such common items such as bread, eggs, cereal, tea, coffee and some locals.

Lunch is typically eaten during the hours of sightseeing in a clean local restaurant. You will be able to relax and enjoy Bhutanese dishes such as red rice, vegetable curries, momos and soups. Dinners are served at the hotel and serve the option of both Bhutanese and continental cuisine. Spicy food is common in Bhutan but the food is cooked in a mild way unless you ask for it to be spicy.

Vegetarian meals are common, and many dishes are suitable for vegetarian tastes. Vegan and special dietary requirements can also be arranged as long as they are shared in advance. Clean drinking water is available on a daily basis, and we do not recommend tap water.

Tea and coffee are easily available, and you can try traditional butter tea if you wish. Alcoholic drinks and soft drinks are not included. During the short Bhutan tour from Nepal, we ensure meals are safe and comfortable.

Altitude Sickness and Recommendations

Altitude sickness is usually not a major concern during a short Bhutan tour, as the itinerary stays at moderate elevations. Paro is situated at an altitude of about 2200 meters and Thimphu is slightly higher with an altitude of about 2320 meters. The highest point reached during the short Bhutan tour is Tiger’s Nest, which is visited as a day hike.

Most travellers feel comfortable at these altitudes. Some will notice that they feel a little tired, or they may find that they breathe slower, on uphill walks, and especially when hiking to Tiger’s Nest. These feelings are normal and usually go away with rest. We plan the itinerary so that there is a possibility of adjusting gradually but not rushing.

To stay comfortable during the short Bhutan tour from Nepal, we suggest drinking plenty of water, eating light meals, and walking at a relaxed pace. We will take breaks on hikes and sightseeing as need is. There is no pressure to hurry.

Our guides are also trained to keep an eye on guests and provide support if anybody is feeling unwell. Lower altitude areas are always available and symptoms tend to improve fairly quickly. By listening to your body and following simple guidance altitude will not affect your enjoyment of the tour.

Visa and Permits for the Short Bhutan Tour

Before you move out of your home country, we advise that you purchase insurance. Carry a copy of your policy and emergency contact numbers along with you on the trip. As much as we take all possible measures to make the journey a smooth sail, insurance is a necessary feature of protection and safeguard.
