Overview of Kori Trek

Kori Trek, or Kori Hill Danda Trek, is one of the most sought-after trekking journeys in the Annapurna region. Located in the Annapurna conservation area, you will be offered nothing but the serene beauty of the hills and the enthralling views of the Himalayas surrounding the trekking site. Though it takes around ten days to complete this trek, you will be amazed at how even beginners can complete the journey without hassle or difficulties. Moreover, the trek is perfect for both solo and in a group. This journey will be ideal if you are looking for a getaway soon.

Besides the end destination, the hilly trails are all about alluring landscapers, fresh greenery, and a culturally rich lifestyle and traditions. Our Kori Hill trek package gives you the best possible facilities, and you will find much convenience throughout your travel with us. Make sure to read until the end to know about all that we offer. (The services include but are not limited to the following!).

Kori Trek – A new trekking destination

The Kori trek offers a beautiful experience of exploring the vistas of the Himalayas and green hills simultaneously. It is one of the easiest yet thrilling treks in the Annapurna region. If you are a trekking enthusiast, you will want to explore the conserved area at least once.

Furthermore, the journey will last from around 9 to 10 days only. Trekkers can, however, extend their trekking days as they please. Besides the hilly trail and mountain views afar, visitors will also experience the beauty of other central locations like Pokhara Valley, Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, Tangting and Sikles villages, and Lamjung Range.

Similarly, you will find villages dominated by Ghale and Gurung communities. The ethnic people share similar traditions and are keen on living in unity and harmony. Though Kori Hill trails are very close to Pokhara city, you are more than likely to discover that the people living in villages there are not as much influenced by modernity and Westernization. They are inclined towards traditional ways. The orthodox lifestyle makes one’s journey all the more authentic and unique, but only in the best possible way.

When you go on the Kori Hill trek, you will get the best of every possible Nepali world. You will cover cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara while walking through the hills amidst beautiful waterfalls, panoramic pastures, and Gurung villages. You will also enjoy the view of tall and majestic mountains at a fair distance from your trekking pathway.

There are several highlights of the Kori Hill trek that you might want to keep in mind before starting your journey. Knowing about your destination beforehand makes your trek all the more exciting. Some of the significant highlights of the Kori Danda trek are as follows:

Pokhara tour

The Kori Hill trek starts and ends at Pokhara. Hence, you won’t only be going to the rural part of the hills but also discovering the beauty of the famous city, a significant tourist attraction in Nepal. The Pokhara valley is filled with tourists and remains so throughout the year. Touring around Pokhara makes you fall in love with every aspect, from the lively city life to the ever-serious hill treks. Touring through Pokhara will be a journey that will keep you attentive and invested in every aspect you come through.

Sikles Gurung village

In Sikles, you will come through several Gurung communities. Since the village’s inhabitants are familiar to tourists, they tend to be welcoming to every other visitor. Many trekkers are invested in discovering the history and lifestyle of the people living around Sikles.

Therefore, the trek will be a perfect opportunity for such trekkers to contact one or a few of the villages, which are friendly and almost always willing to help and support visitors. Exploring the town becomes even better when you see their way of life through their food and houses and by observing all the different clothes they wear.

Chili Kohinbo Temple

There aren’t many places in Nepal that have temples of the Bon religion.
You can visit a famous Bon temple in the Kori Hill trek, one of the few in the country. The temple is known as Chili Kohinbo Temple. Though a religion followed by only a set group of people, Chili Kohinbo temple is open for everyone to visit, regardless of religion. This will also mark an experience that will stick with you and be paired with uniqueness, making your visit memorable.

Waterfall and streams

There are plenty of waterways in the Annapurna region’s hilly area, including the Kori hill trek pathways. You will come through several waterfalls and streams on your way, both big and small. The water resources in the region freshen up the surroundings while making nature flourish even more. The greenery in the trails’ environment grows and is nourished by the waterfalls and streams that flow throughout the year in several places.

Rocky, yet the comfortable path

The path of the Kori Hill trek is nothing but comfortable, even if you are a beginner. Many trekking pathways make it impossible for beginners to complete them. This is not the case for the Kori Hill trek, as it is easy in Annapurna. You will walk through rocky stone stairs and see many stones and rocks along the way. This does not mean you will face any difficulties hindering your trek.

Lush Rhododendron forests

Rhododendron, also the national flower of Nepal, is abundantly found in the Annapurna region, including the Kori Hill. Trekkers find several places with lush Rhododendron trees,  making their journey as scenic as possible. The flowers bloom in bright colors of red and pink. Since the pathways are a fusion of cold and moderate temperatures, the flora species have it ideally when it comes to growing with richness.

Wildlife Exploration

The wildlife species in the Annapurna region are awe-inspiring for the sight of the onlookers. During your Kori hill trek, you might see several animals, including Himalayan Thar, Musk deer, and Danphe (Lophophorus). The animals may or may not be seen roaming around in the trails. It would help if you went to the upper regions of the trekking path to catch sight of these animals.

Mountain views

The mountains around the hilly region are the most striking highlight of the Kori Hill trek. Almost every mountain in Pokhara includes Lamjung Himal, Machhapuchhre Himal, and Annapurna II. These majestic peaks are almost always clad with snow. The blend of blue and white looks extravagant, as does the blue and white color of the sky. The mountain views will keep your heart and mind at peace. Likewise, if you are a photography enthusiast, you’ll engage with the location’s aesthetics.

Traditional lodges

The lodges and guesthouses you will stay in during your trek will be traditional, both exterior and interior. The trekking activities started much later in the area, which justifies why the locals and the region’s service providers have put their traditional designs and lifestyles into accommodations for visitors.

Personalizable itineraries

Though our representatives almost always set the routes to ensure the trekkers feel convenient, the itineraries are also customizable. Personalized itineraries have helped many of our clients, both beginners and experts, excel in their journeys as per their wishes. An experienced trekker may go through a stricter path than someone who has never been to the Kori trek. Likewise, one’s preference for extended or short-cut treks is also significant in determining the itineraries.

Global clientele

Trekkers worldwide seek our service every year, in every season, all around the year. We serve not only Nepalese clients; our clientele is widespread worldwide. Numerous success stories have come from enthusiastic trekkers in every part of the globe. The Kori Hill trek is a journey that tourists can get into and for Nepali inhabitants of the Gurung community.  Above the Himalayas, the global clientele has remained intact, as many clients who have chosen us have repeatedly done so for every other tour in Nepal and other Asian countries.

Local guidance

The locals in a palace know their location better than any outsider. No information on the internet will be a dependable aid when going on the Kori Hill trek. Going on a mildly challenging trek that takes several days to complete, like this one, brings experience from locals who have been on the same journey several times. And at our company, we give our clients just that! The local guidance and knowledge have made it possible to secure our client base for several years.

Our proven record of successful Kori treks and client convenience is evidence of genuine and attested local guidance from our representatives.

Itinerary of Kori Trek

DAY
1

Day 1 : Arrive at Kathmandu

Your journey to the Annapurna conservation region for the Kori Hill trek will start from Kathmandu. Our representative will pick you up on time, and you will be driven to your hotel in the city. The capital city is as fascinating as it can be.

Trekkers can take a round in the town or rest to release their jetlag in the hotel. After adequate rest, you can also tour the city in the evening. It is just as necessary for visitors to keep their minds and hearts open to all the challenges they may face in days to come during their trek from this day on.

DAY
2

Day 2: Flight or drive to Pokhara

Trekkers will leave their hotel early in the morning after having breakfast. They are open to flying to Pokhara or driving on the road instead. The flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara will likely be more expensive than a road trip.

However, the former option is recommended if you want to save time. Visitors can enjoy sightseeing at places in Pokhara or simply resting in their rooms. The road trip or flight has exceptionally alluring landscapes, mountain views, etc. On this day, you will have your dinner at a hotel in Pokhara.

DAY
3

Day 3: Pokhara to Sikles village

On the third day of our Kori trek, you will be driven to Sikles village from Pokhara. This is the day your trekking journey starts. Sikles is located at a decent height and gives you an essence of all you will be experiencing and should expect for the rest of your trek.

Sikles village is rich in Gurung culture. Since many visitors visit the town yearly, the villagers engage in tourism activities almost every other month. They are responsible for the amenities you will find in the city. These inhabitants are just as friendly and can best help the trekkers looking for a cultural experience and knowledge-seeking activities.

DAY
4

Day 4: Sikles to Hugu Goth

After resting reasonably, you will finally put on your trekking shoes on the fourth day as you commence your journey for around 6 to 7 hours from Sikles to Hugu Goth.

The trekking day will be tiring, but you will have gotten plenty of energy from the prior resting time. Trekkers will be spending a night in a guesthouse in Hugu Goth.

DAY
5

Day 5: Hugu Goth to Nho-ta

You may find the 5th day more complex than the day before since you won’t get a lodge to stay in Nho-ta. Nho-ta is a rural region you will pass during the Kori hill trek.

The natural beauty of the trails during your time from Hugu Goth to Nho-ta is nothing short of exemplary. However, the struggle is just as much, especially for those who have not been on as many trekking journeys in the past. You will be spending a night camping in Nho-ta. Lunch, dinner, and breakfast will be managed for trekkers.

DAY
6

Day 6: Nho-ta to Kori hill

On the 6th day of our Kori trek, you will finally be moving towards your end destination, Kori. The walk from Nho-ta to Kori takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on the speed and capacity of the trekker. You will not be restless by this time since you will have enough experience trekking through rocky roads for prolonged hours.

The pathway is not very challenging either. The Nho-ta to Kori hill journey might take you from a reasonably low to a higher altitude. Hence, it would help if you took precautions related to altitude sickness. Trekkers will spend a day at a tent again. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be managed.

DAY
7

Day 7: Kori to Thulek

On the seventh day, trekkers will have an opportunity to explore the beautiful Kori. It would help to get your cameras and journals ready for this day. The Kori to Thulek trek takes around 6 hours.

The highest altitude during your trek is commonly 3800 m but can exceed 4100 m during the exploration, given you push your limits. Sheep grazing and the beautiful landscapes of villages are outstanding points to remember as you move from Kori to Thulek. You will again be provided with breakfast, lunch, and dinner while spending time in a tent.

DAY
8

Day 8: Kori to Sikles village

You will finally descend from Kori to Sikles on the 8th day. There will be much to explore during this day as well. The trekking time may exceed the time taken earlier.

Trekkers are usually habituated to the change in altitude and are likely to grow more comfortable as they come to a more adjustable place. In Sikles village, you will be spending a night at a lodge. You will be provided with food and other amenities in the lodge itself.

DAY
9

Day 9: Sikles to Pokhara/ Kathmandu

Trekkers will finally move from Sikles to either Pokhara or Kathmandu, depending on which place they would like to explore or where they would like to stay.

You can extend your tour and spend some time in Pokhara. Also, if you want to cut your trip short and prepare to go home, you can go directly to Kathmandu. City tours are optional yet suggested!

Trip Extension

Suppose you have more time in Nepal after this trip. In that case, we can help you to extend your trip by running different treks in Nepal, tours in Bhutan and Tibet, Jungle safari tours at Chitwan, Bardia, and other National parks, Nepal luxury hotel booking, Rafting, Ultra-light flights, or any other travel-related services. There are several things to keep in mind when you are going to the Kori Hill trek. Though not as intense as many other trekking destinations in the Annapurna region itself, the Kori Hill Trek is going to be one that will challenge you and keep you satisfied with everything you are likely to get as a trekker.

Some of the factors to remember during your Kori  Trek are as follows:

Choosing the best time for the Kori trek

Kori trek in Nepal can happen all around the year. Though there are peak seasons when trekkers prefer to go on trekking journeys, you can choose a time that fits your convenience and personal schedule. Fall and spring remain the most preferable seasons for Kori Hill Trek, while monsoon and winter are not as preferable. A trekker’s opinions and personal goals can also determine the best month or season for the Kori trek.

Spring and fall are the best times to see the blooms. The weather and the sky are almost always transparent, so you will get a fantastic view of the mountains and landscapes. Choosing the best time also includes finding convenience in landing the best accommodation facilities.

It may be challenging to manage accommodation during peak seasons. However, our company offers all our clients the best possible accommodation service, even during peak months. Similarly, the roads and trails are clear, dry, and favorable for day-long walks.

Summer and monsoons can be sweltering, which is not preferred by many trekkers. But if you slow down your pace and take the necessary precautions, you can complete the trek during both seasons. In contrast to summer and monsoon, winter can get just as cold.

If your goal is to push your limits as a trekker and explore the adrenaline junkie in you, then with much expertise and guidance, you will be able to finish the journey in winter as well. Trekkers can find accommodation with our help and will be provided with as many amenities as possible with or without additional charges over what they already pay (depending on the services they seek).

Accommodation facility

The accommodation in the Kori trek is not as facilitative, given that there are a few days you will be staying in a tent instead of a lodge or a guesthouse. You will not, by any means, have to face any hassle related to staying in a tent as we ensure our clients get the best possible service and amenities regardless of where they are.

Everything will be made comfortable even while camping. Furthermore, in the lower regions with lodge facilities, clients will be served with all the accommodations and amenities from the lodges. The lodges have decent toilets and essential hygiene tips should also be followed. You will likely find both traditional and Western-style toilets in the lodges. Trekkers are always suggested to carry hand wash, hand sanitizer, soap bars, and toothbrushes.

Essential gear and packing tips

It would help if you packed everything you may need during your Kori trek. Trekkers always make a list before they get started. Additionally, it may not always be possible to carry everything you need without doing a fair bit of research or consulting with someone well aware of trekking journeys. The essential gear and packing list includes trekking equipment, suitable clothes, shoes, and important stuff.

We can recommend some of the top gear and equipment, as we have expertise in treks to many destinations, including the Kori Hill trek. You can also consult us before your trek for a brief discussion about the best things to take along or wear. Our guides are just as helpful.

Safety measures

We don’t have travel insurance. Our clients are recommended to remain ready with insurance on their own before they begin their journey. However, we make trekkers feel safe by helping them take plentiful medications and emergency kits to ensure their wellness. Our guides will remain available throughout the Kori trek if you need guidance or are physically or mentally struggling. The guides sent to you are professionals with a well-set record of impressing every client with efficient service and the best possible physical and mental support.

Route planning

Trekkers must be mindful that, unlike other dangerous and lengthy treks, the Kori trek offers limited routes. A trekker who has been to the Kori trek destination before can easily make up a route that he best prefers. Otherwise, our guides and representatives will guide you with much attention to important aspects of a trek.

Route planning has always been seamless, and we only choose the most convenient pathways suitable for trekkers who have been on several journeys before and those who are trekking for the first time or have not trekked for more than a few days before.

When you go on the Kori trek with us, you will find many aspects to explore while also making the fondest memories amongst the mountains and the greenery of the Annapurna region. Trekkers can find as much comfort in their trek as we assure everyone gets their say on itinerary choices and days to extend or cut off.

Touring cities other than the main destinations like Pokhara and Kathmandu may require our guidance and service. We don’t do away from providing our clients with such facilities either. During your Kori trek, you will receive services that par excellence, plus your pockets will remain as light as possible since we include exceptional trekking costs in our packages as well!

How long is the Kori Trek?

The Kori Hill trek will likely take you around 9 to 10 days. Trekkers can choose the length of the trek depending on all the places they would like to explore. If you want to get the most out of a single journey, you can extend your trek to 10 days. On the other hand, if you are looking to carry your trek for only a few days, it will likely take you over three days. In the latter plan, trekkers will only be able to visit or discover the fewest possible elements of the trek. One can’t cover the upper regions without taking at least nine days.

Likewise, the length of your trek depends on the pace of the other trekkers. If you are trekking with the group, it will likely take you longer as you need to catch up with everyone’s pace, and everyone needs to catch up with your pace. If you are trekking solo with only a guide, then the length of the trek is likely to be shorter.

What is the height of Kori Trek?

The peak height of Kori Hill Trek is 3800 m above sea level. Since the height is not beyond a dangerous level for the trekkers, the likelihood of one suffering from altitude sickness is not as high. Regardless of the safety associated with the altitude, the trekkers should remain prepared for rest as necessary. Especially if you are a beginner trekker, it is suggested that you take your time to complete the trek by resting between one and two hours of trekking.

The lowest height during the trek is 1400 m at Kathmandu Valley. It is the capital city where your journey is going to start. Likewise, as soon as you cover the highest altitude of Kori Hill, you will directly descend to a height of 1980 m in Sikles Village.

Which mountain can be seen from the Kori trek?

Several mountains can be seen from Kori Hill. Some of the most popular ones are Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, and Annapurna II. All these mountains are located in Pokhara Valley, making your view more straightforward and transparent. These mountains may seem closer as you go higher up in Kori Hill.

The Machhapuchhre Himal resembles a fish’s tail, which is also why it translates to Fish Tail in English. Similarly, Annapurna II is very close to the Kori Himal, making your trekking trail a blessing if you are a keen aesthete. The Lamjung Himal is another prominent peak that enriches the beauty of the Kori Himal trek. You can also take a close look at the mountain during the journey. Looking at the snow-clad peaks without disturbance is possible during spring, fall, and other months.

Kori trek cost

The cost of the Kori trek is 800 USD per head. The facilities we provide are exceptional whether you trek with groups or solo. The price includes several facilities, including accommodation, touring, and many essential amenities. It would help if you kept in mind several essentials that will and won’t be covered by our agency.
