Overview of Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek
Are you looking for an unspoiled hiking paradise amid the high mountains, an authentic adventure that can challenge both your body and mind at the same time? Then, Above the Himalaya recommends our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek, an expedition that is defined by solitude, interactions with ethnic minorities, and a departure from typical tourist paths.
We promise, our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek will offer you everything that you like to gain from a classic trek in Nepal: from the gigantic Himalayan views to the wildest nature experiences, and from a deep insight into the cultural heritage of minor ethnic groups to an exhilarating adventure. Be ready to experience it all.
Our Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley trek will transport you to the Gorkha district located in the northern region of Nepal, along the bank of the Shiyar Khola near Tibet, within the Manaslu Conservation Area.
The entire route of the trek is framed by the impressive Ganesh Himal (7422 m), Shringi Himal (7187 m), Manaslu, and Baudha Himal (6672 m) ranges.
Regarding our 18 days Tsum Valley Manaslu trek, it will initially follow the Budhi Gandaki valley until you reach Jagat. The route will then guide you inside the isolated and restricted Tsum Valley through Lokpa village.
Tsum Valley opened to tourists only in 2008, and it is regarded as a spiritual sanctuary and the Valley of Happiness. This small restricted valley offers a glimpse into a way of life that has endured for centuries.
The people here are called the Tsumbas, who still uphold the centuries-old Buddhist traditions and communicate in their own dialect. Your visit to the valley ends with the exploration of the Mu Gompa (3700 m) surrounded by the gigantic mountains and passes.
The route of our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek will then continue around the Manaslu massif, leading you to the Manaslu Base Camp (4800 m) at Samagaun.
In the progressive days, you will then cross the 5106 m tall Larke Pass. From this pass, you will be able to admire the otherworldly mountain panorama formed by Gyaji Kang (7100 m), Himlung (7126 m), Cheo (6820 m), Kanguru (6367 m), Ngadi Chuli (7871 m), Annapurna II (7937 m), and many others.
The road beyond the pass will then guide you to the valley north of Annapurna through Dharapani, from where you will return to Kathmandu.
Throughout our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek, we will always choose easy paths as much as possible. However, the route is still moderately challenging because of the continuous effort needed.
Therefore, our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek is much-suited for experienced trekkers and is particularly lovely and enchanting during the spring and autumn months in Nepal.

01
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola, 930 m/3051 ft,160 km / 99 miles, 8 to 9 hours
Our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek starts at daybreak with an early transfer to the west of Kathmandu. Once we exit the capital, our public vehicle will descend us along the Thankot Pass.
We will then follow the road leading to Pokhara for a while along the Prithvi Highway. Passing through the green cliffs of Malekhu and Trishuli, we will journey north to reach Dhading.
The dirt road will begin to enhance our adventure as we progress through Dhading Besi into the Upper Gorkha district. Forgetting the hilly road experience in the views of Ganesh, Manaslu, Langtang, and Annapurna, we will reach the Budhi Gandaki Valley.
We will pass by the beautiful local market of Arughat and continue along a stretch to Soti Khola (730 m), traveling through the gorgeous small settlements of Maltar, Shante, Arkhet, and Kyoropani.
The road will gently start to climb towards Khursane, where we will see the mightiness of the Nuali Khola. Passing by Labubesi, we will soon arrive at Machha Khola, where our long driving journey finally ends.
02
Day 02: Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat, 1340 m/4396 ft, 14 km, 6 to 7 hours
After a warm, tasty breakfast early in the morning, we will now get ready to kick off the trekking part of our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek adventure. The mighty Budhi Gandaki River will still be there while we take the upstream trail towards Thado Khola.
A long, steel, wavy suspension bridge will then take us across the river to Khorla Besi. The remote hilly terrain will now guide us to the Hot water spring of Tatopani at 1040 m.
From here, we will trek into the beautiful Dobhan Khola Valley, where we will be face-to-face with the remarkable 92 km-long suspension bridge, which will take us into the Yaru Khola Valley.
The gently rising hilly trail will now take us to Thulo Dhunga and then to Jagat, where happy, smiling Gurung people greet us. We can see the signs of Tibetan Buddhism culture with a few Mani Walls.
03
Day 03: Trek to Lokpa, 2240 m/7349 ft, 19.9 km/ 12.3 miles, 5 to 6 hours
Early morning, as we start to leave Jagat, we will have our permits registered and verified at the military checkpoint of the Manaslu Conservation Area.
We will then trek through the beautiful Tibetan villages of Salleri and Nagjet. A gentle ascending dry terrain will now take us toward the Sridibas Village, where we can enjoy the sight of the beautiful waterfalls.
We will now traverse a small bridge and reach the bright village of Philim (1590 m). We will now leave the Budi Gandaki Valley and plunge through the bamboo forest of Ekle Bhatti (a secluded tea house) to Lokpa Village that stares straight at Tsum Valley. But for now, we will concentrate our sight on the very gorgeous Gajung Kang and Shringi mountains.
04
Day 04: Trek from Lokpa to Chumling, 2386 m/ 7828 ft, 6 km/3 miles, 5 to 6 hours
After breakfast at the tea house, we will now get ready to hike through the narrow shaded jungle trail that overlooks the stone villages of the Sardi Khola Valley.
The increasing alpine environment will take us further through Gadhkhola and Lungwa Khola. We will then traverse the narrow shaded gorge, which will ascend us to Gumlung Village (2130 m).
A sharp bending trail will then take us to the Ripchet Village (2470 m) and then to Chumling. The village is filled with the aura of the ancient religious monasteries such as Gurwa, Panagao, and Mani Dhungyur, while Baudha and Ganesh stand smiling at us from a distance. Welcome to the Tsum Valley.
05
Day 05: Trek from Chumling to Chekampar/ Chokhang Paro, 3010 m/ 9944 ft, 10 km/6 miles, 5 to 6 hours
Today, the Tsum Valley Manaslu trek will take us into the region of the Upper Tsum Valley. The views are now more open with the mighty Ganesh commanding the sky.
The alpine trail bordered by the Mani Walls will initially ascend us gently to Dumje Village. We will now find ourselves standing in front of two converging trails: one going towards the base camp of the Ganesh Peak and the other ascending towards the village of Lar.
We will proceed on to the next path and follow the bank of the beautiful Serpu Khola. The river will guide us to the Tibetan Gho settlement, where we will have to traverse the small bridge.
We will then calmly and slowly climb for around 2 and a half hours and reach the Chekampar Village. In the latter hours, we can visit the small temple in the village.
06
Day 06: Trek from Chekampar to Nile, 3361 m/11026 ft, 9 km, 5 to 6 hours
We will continue with the ascent through the Upper Tsum Valley with the aim of reaching the lonely village of Nile. Our trail will run along the ridge for a moment, taking us to Lamagaon (3202 m).
Here, we will see the Rachen Monastery or Nunnery, where we will meet numerous nuns finding their solace. A little further, we will also come across the Piren Phu Cave of Burji Village, which is known among westerners as Pigeon Cave.
Being the site where Milarepa once meditated, the cave is also referred to as Milarepa Cave. We will now traverse the Siyar Khola along a small bridge and proceed upward through Phurbe (3250 m) and Pangdun (3258 m) villages to reach Chule.
From the village, we can gaze at Mu Gompa, and we can also enjoy the coolness of a beautiful waterfall. Opposite is the village of Nile, which can be reached by trekking upward for an hour.

Early in the morning, we will take a moment to bask in the beauty of Ganesh Himal, Naike Peak, Simnang Himal, Manaslu, Shringi Himal, Himal Chuli, Ngadi Chuli, and Saula Himal.
Then, we will set off towards the highlight of our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek, a visit to Mu gompa. From Nile, we will have to engage in around 2.5 hours of laborious climb to the Gompa, which was established in 1985 in the amazing setting of Shringi, Baudha, Ganesh, and Himalchuli.
About 100 monks live here who partake in daily rituals, and they are more than happy to take us around the monastery. Among the notable attractions, the towering representations of Goddess Tara, Avalokiteshwara, and Padmasambhava will steal our attention.
Once we are at the periphery of the Gompa, we can then look straight at the desert terrain of Tibet, and the daunting presence of the Ngula Dhojyang/Mailatasachin Pass (5093 m) and Thapla Bhanjyang (5104 m).
We will now retreat to Nile for a cozy night.
08
Day 08: Trek from Nile to Chumling, 2386 m/ 7828 ft, 5.7 km/3.7 miles, 5 to 6 hours
We will now have to exit the picturesque beauty of the Tsum Valley to get on with the second part of our amazing Tsum Valley Manaslu trek. We will once again pass by Lokpa and then continue on the trail that will lead us to Philim. We will follow the right turn and cross the Budhi Gandaki to reach Ekle Bhatti.
The now a bit crowded mountain path will take us into the bamboo thickets of Nupri. En route, we will traverse numerous small bridges and arrive in Deng for the night.
10
Day 10: Trek from Deng to Namrung, 2630 m/8628 ft, 20 km/12 miles, 6 to 7 hours
We will now begin the circuit route around Manaslu, where the trail is rich in beautiful, enticing views and villages. After Deng, we will cross several steel bridges and then start ascending the slope over Budhi Gandaki to reach Rana Bridge.
Following the left shore of the Budhi Gandaki, we will shortly reach Bihi Phedi. The open wide valley path will generously ascend us through thick rhododendron forest to Ghap and Prok villages.
We will now climb through the forest to reach Namrung, where we will come across a checkpoint. After registering our permits, we will proceed to rest in the village beneath the massive features of Manaslu, Pang Phuchin (6335 m), and Saula Peak (6235 m).
11
Day 11: Trek from Namrung to Shyala, 3500 m/11482 ft, 10 km / 6 miles, 7 to 8 hours
From Namrung, we will continue to ascend to Lihi Village (2900 m), where we can witness the Himal Chuli rise majestically. Then, we will make a small descent and again climb up to reach Sho Village (2950 m) in around 45 minutes.
Standing in the village, we can see Ganesh and Himal Chuli. Continuing on, we will reach Lho (3180 m), characterized by its traditional stone houses and a beautiful Ribung monastery, along with Naike, Manaslu North (7157 m), and Manaslu itself (8163 m).
We will not make a long descent to Thusan Khola and again climb sharply along its tight, small gorge till we are at Shyala Village, sculpted by the presence of Manaslu and Peak 29 (7871 m).
12
Day 12: Trek from Shyala to Samagaun, 3530 m/11581 ft, 9 km/5 miles, 4 hours
We have a relatively short and simple journey today as we head towards Samagaun. The path to the village extends along a beautiful mountain plain adorned by the magnetic presence of Himal Chuli and Peak 29.
After reaching Samagaun, we will have a well-deserved rest after numerous days of trekking. We can spend the evening wandering through this enchanting village and meeting its warm, smiling people.
13
Day 13: Day off at Samagaun Village
The stunning, extraordinary mountain panorama created by gorgeous Himalchuli, Naike Peak (6211 m), Shringi Himal (7155 m), Ganesh Himal (7422 m), Simnang Himal (6158 m), Manaslu, Ngadi Chuli (7879 m), and Saula Himal will give an energetic start to our morning in Samagaun.
After a nice breakfast, we will consider the options to engage in our acclimating hike. One of the attractive options is to head west to the picturesque Birendra Lake (3460 m) created by the icefalls from Manaslu peak.
From here, we can then continue climbing to the Manaslu Base Camp (4800 m) and stand right below the magnetic Manaslu. After this hair-raising adventure, we will now descend to Samagaun.
14
Day 14: Trek from Samagaun to Samdo, 3530 m/ 11581 ft, 9 km/ 5 miles, 4 hours
From Samagaun, we will follow the valley track to the north and trek along the almost flat terrain, which will lead us to the Budhi Gandaki River once again.
We will now head northwest and traverse the yak pasture called Kermo Kharka. Walking by the long Mani Wall, we will engage in a sharp climb of about 150 m that will directly take us to Samdo Village.
If you like, you can also choose to ascend the Samdo Ri Peak (5170 m) later in the day.
15
Day 15: Trek from Samdo to Dharmasala, 4460 m/14632 ft, 11 km / 6 miles, 4 to 5 hours
The day of reaching the highest point of our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek is approaching, and today we will be reaching the base camp of this highest point, called Larke Pass.
Our trek today will be relatively shorter but with significant elevation gain of around 900 m. We will therefore take our steps slowly and proceed from Samdo along the ridge line of Larke Bazaar.
The route will now start to change into glacial terrain, displaying the mesmerizing views of Manaslu North and Syacha Glacier. We will now have to cross a rickety bridge over Salke Khola and then ascend the scree steep slope to reach Dharmasala.
All around, you can see huge rock formations with the encircling presence of Syacha Glacier, Larke, Naike, Samdo, and Manaslu peaks. This site is also called the Larke Phedi, Duwang, or Tibetan Refugee Camp.
If possible, our guide will ensure your stay in the newly formed tea house in the area. Sleep early as a long and laborious day awaits us tomorrow.
16
Day 16: Trek from Dharmasala to Bimthang, 3590 m/ 11778 ft via Larke/Larkya Pass (5106 m/16752), 18 km/ 11 miles, 8 to 10 hours
Finally, the long-awaited day of our 18 days Tsum Valley Manaslu trek is here. We will triumph over the Larke Pass today, for which we will start our day very early, probably in the dark.
We will ascend the north lateral wall of the Larkya Glacier for a while. When we stand just below 100 m of the pass, we will have to prepare ourselves for the steep stretch.
A slow approach will finally lead us atop the pass, decorated with piles of prayer flags. Standing on the pass summit, we will see the scenery shaped by Gyaji Kang, Himlung, Cheo, Kanguru, Ngadi Chuli, Annapurna II, and many others.
After this otherworldly view, we will retreat to the lodge of Dharmasala for breakfast. Then, we will set forth on a long descent towards Bimthang.
The route will wind around the beautiful Pongkar Tal and the Salpundanda Glacier moraine, before we cross the Larke Kharka. We will descend through Tanbuche (3900 m) and reach Bimthang.
This small village will once again offer us the views of Manaslu, Peak 29, Manaslu West, Himlung, and Lamjung peaks.
17
Day 17: Trek from Bimthang to Dharapani, 2300 m, 21 km / 13 miles, 5 to 6 hours
Today, our trek will conclude with a descent to Dharapani, the prominent village that will connect us to the trail of the Annapurna Circuit.
From Bimthang, we will start to walk downstream and pass through numerous tiny settlements such as Hampuk, Jangli Kharka, Sangure Kharka, Puktu Kharka, Phute, and Karche.
We will then make a small ascent along the ridge of the Karche Pass (2715 m) from where we will once again descend to Gho Village (2560 m).
The Dudh Khola Valley welcomes us as we reach Tilije, a major town that intertwines the Manaslu with the Annapurna region. We will stick to the northern shore of the river and reach Thongje village.
Then, traversing the small bridge twice, we will reach the right shore of the mighty Marshyangdi Khola. Here, we will pass by the checkpoint and then start trekking comfortably through the forest trail of Annapurna to reach Dharapani.

Then, we will switch to a tourist bus, which will drive us along the wide Dumre Besisahar Chame Highway. Further, Prithvi Highway will take us onward through Bandipur, Aanbu Khaireni, Deurali, Manakamana Temple, Naubise, Chandragiri, to Kathmandu.

Route Map & Altitude Chart
Why is the Tsum Valley Manaslu trek restricted?
Tsum Valley Manaslu trek needs special authorization as they are the restricted region of Nepal requiring at least two travelers in an organized group with a compulsory presence of a local guide and a restricted permit. Thus, the flow of trekkers every year is limited, which has helped in maintaining the ancient flavor of the area.
With this step, not only is the culture of the people protected, but also the delicate ecosystem, which acts as a safe sanctuary for many threatened species such as the snow leopard, red panda, and Himalayan Thar.
Additionally, the Tsum Valley is very close to neighboring Tibet, which itself enforces some strict tourism rules. Thus, the Tsum Valley Manaslu trek is protected and remains unspoiled thanks to the restrictions placed by the government.
When to go for the 18 Days Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek?
The most beautiful months to go for the Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley trek are April and May during spring, as well as October and November in autumn.
The climate during these months in the region tends to be relatively dry with the spotless sky. In the spring, the Manaslu and Tsum Valley flourish with the blooming rhododendrons that add a pinkish hue to the entire landscape, while autumn presents the clearest views of the mountains along with the pristine, dust-free air.
In the winter months of December, January, and February, the Larke Pass may become inaccessible in the event of heavy snowfall. Similarly, the summer months of June, July, and August are less suggested due to the intense rainfall in the Manaslu region, which often transforms the trekking paths into muddy river trails.
How difficult is the Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley Trek?
The Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley trek falls under category III classification, indicating the entire experience is of moderate difficulty. The moderate challenge arises because of the continuous effort required and the path it follows.
The main challenge will be felt while traversing the central section of the Tsum Valley, which will ascend you along the ledges that are often etched into the exposed river walls.
Additionally, high altitude is another factor that makes this trek a bit difficult, with the trek reaching 5106 m at Larke Pass. The trekking route is also notably lengthy, which demands an average of 5 to 6 hours of walking each day, characterized by steep inclines, slopes, ascents, and descents.
The climate variation on the trail is another element adding to the challenge, as sunny days can often suddenly change into rainy or windy days. The basic nature of the lodge accommodations may also add to the challenge. However, the trek does not involve any technical complexities.
Who can participate in our Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek?
Please note that during our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek, we will opt for an easy trail as much as possible. We will deviate from steep slopes, ascents, and descents and will choose to trek on stone paths.
We will also dedicate enough time to exploring the interesting sites in the area. We will also do the trekking at a relaxed pace so we can enjoy the unique land and atmosphere of Manaslu and Tsum Valley.
Thus, our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek is appropriate for all individuals who are in good health and fitness level. The participants don’t need to have the high-altitude hiking experience or technical expertise.
All we need is for our participants to have the right physical fitness and mental fortitude, along with an adaptable attitude.
Acute Mountain Sickness/AMS/Altitude Sickness and Acclimatization
Our Tsum Valley Manaslu trek is characterized by its above-average altitude, which means that altitude sickness may arise during this journey.
We assure you that we have carefully planned the necessary acclimatization, including a rest day at Nile with an acclimating hike to Mu Gompa and at Samagaun with a short hike to Manaslu Base Camp.
We have also planned our trekking stage based on our extensive experience and have placed shorter trekking stages in the days leading up to the Larke Pass.
However, Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) can affect anyone, regardless of their fitness level, gender, age, or experience. Therefore, we advise you not to overexert yourself by walking too quickly.
You should always engage in a slow pace, especially in the early stages of the trek, so your body gets time to adjust to the changing climate, along with new sleep and eating habits.
We also advise you to drink 4-6 liters of water daily during the trekking stage. If you have nausea, vomiting, body aches, too much exhaustion, or dizziness, then these are the signs of AMS.
In such a case, our guide, after monitoring your condition, may provide you with Diamox to assist in your acclimatization. If necessary, he may also administer oxygen or facilitate your descent to lower elevations.
Training essential for the Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek
A Tsum Valley Manaslu trek needs a considerable level of collaboration between trekkers and guides, along with a readiness to forego some comforts, and excellent physical fitness.
To improve your physical health and walking capacity, we suggest you build up your stamina and endurance through some simple aerobic activities such as walking, running, swimming, cycling, and leg workouts such as stretching, pull-ups, and push-ups.
You should also consider stair climbing to prepare your body for the frequent ascent and descents. Forming the routine around 2 months before your fixed departure date will be advisable.
If possible, engage in a short mountain hike in your hometown and also practice meditation, yoga, and deep breathing exercises to prevent AMS. Also, familiarize yourself with Tsum Valley and its landscape to mentally prepare yourself for adapting to the simple lifestyle of the region during the trek.
Secondary Route and extension options of the Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek
If you want a different approach to the Tsum Valley Manaslu trek, then you can drive from Kathmandu to Barpak in the Gorkha District. Barpak was the major town hit by the 2015 earthquake in Nepal, which has now fully restored from the damage.

If you think 18 days is a bit lengthy journey for you, you can choose to trek directly to Tsum Valley only or engage in the Manaslu Circuit trek as well.
To enhance your hiking experience in the Manaslu region, you can also decide to take a side trip to the Ganesh Himal Base Camp from Chekampar Village or go to the high altitude Gumba Lungdang Monastery.

Posted on H H9 December 2025Verified Thank you for the best tour we have ever had! I planned to stay at the Everest View Hotel this time and travel there because I wanted to see Everest, the highest mountain in the world, slowly, but despite the short schedule due to my children's school, all I got was a response that it was difficult to contact several tour companies. The Himaraya Trekking, Above, has worked out a smooth and safe schedule and had the best experience for me and my family. I will never forget the view of Mount Everest. Thank you very much.Posted on Mike F26 November 2025Verified Another Amazing Trip with Above the Himalaya This is my 3rd trip with Above the Himalaya and Puru. Each trip with Puru has exceeded expectation with the quality of the guides, porters and attention to detail. We were a team of 5 trekker and our ages were all above 67 years of age with the oldest being 73. We are all experienced hikers and trekker and our plan was to trek up the Khumbu Valley to the Cho La pass to Gokyo to the Renjo La pass to return to Lukla. However, the weather altered our plans as Cyclone Montha blanketed the country in rain at lower elevations and significant snowfall at the upper elevations. Due to the weather, no one was trekking and everyone was staying put in their current location during the storm. All the passes were closed due to the deep snow. We were in Namche when the storm was blanketing the country. This is where Above the Himalaya really shines is in the ability to adapt to the changing conditions and our safety. In conversation with our lead guide, we decided to alter our route to trek through the Gokyo valley to reach Gokyo and then do the Renjo La pass. Sitaram our lead guide and Dhurba our assistant guide was both attentive to the changing conditions and always kept a keen eye for how we were doing and feeling on the trek. The pacing was excellent as none of us had any hint of altitude sickness as we reached a maximum elevation of 5,365m.Having trekked and hiked all over the world with different tour companies, Puru’s company is simply the best. The communications, focus on safety, the guides and staff, the accommodations, and the food are all amazing. All you have to do is focus on the beauty of the mountains, enjoy the joyfulness of the Nepali people and have fun exploring the trails. I am planning my next trip with Puru for 2027 as there is no other trekking company to match Puru’s level of service.Posted on Mie K. A.25 November 2025Verified Take a small step into the Himalayas I went with Above The Himalaya Trekking’s Everest View Hike in November 2025 and can only recommend with my whole heart!I had never visited Nepal or the Himalayas before and had a life long dream of seeing Mt Everest. I had though, hiked a lot in various parts of the world, but never above 2000 m, so I went with the five day Everest View Trek to take a small step and see how I would handle the altitude. From first enquiry about dates and various questions, to my arrival back from the trip, Puru has been an invaluable help, always standby on mail and WhatsApp, pulling strings and making things happen. Also big shout out to the amazing guide I was teamed with, Kamal, who did everything he could to answer all my curious questions about vegetation, animal life, Nepalese culture and everything in-between :) Kamal was the perfect gentleman, offering little treats and reminding me to take breaks, and all in all I felt very safe and in good hands all the time. He also had good banter and jokes, which lifted the spirit of even the hardest climb. It was cold most nights and mornings and even though the tea houses provided heavy blankets (and I could borrow extra) I was glad I had the sleeping bag with me, which I rented through Puru. But I could definitely have survived without and saved the space in my pack.In total, I’m very pleased I’ve got to experience this lovely country with Above the Himalaya Trekking and if I ever come back for the big leap into the mountains, I’ll chose Kamal and Puru all over again :)Posted on nameless25 November 2025Verified Nepal trek-Gokyo Second trek with Above the Himalaya, this time to Gokyo and over Renjo La. Our lead and assistant guides (Sitaram and Dhurba) were excellent. Due to several days of rain at lower elevations and snow higher we needed to change our plans while in the midst of our trek. Above the Himalaya accomplished this smoothly and flawlessly, which ultimately resulted in a better experience. We’ll be back!Posted on Yu S22 November 2025Verified Great Experience and Friendly people. We had a great time with Above the Himalayas tour company in Oct. Ajay, the tour guide in Kathmandu is very friendly and knowledgeable. He took us to a lot of places that we can experience local authentic daily life. Puru, the owner, arranged and organized our trip in such way that we really feel comfortable and enjoyable. We are specially impressed by his quick action and management skills. Our flight to Pokhara got cancelled due to bed weather. Within minutes, Puru was able to arrange a car and a driver to drive us to Pokhara! It saved out trip.Posted on Sally M14 November 2025Verified Glorious trekking experience - ABC We had the most wonderful experience doing the Annapurna Base Camp trek with our fabulous guide, Tanka, and porter, Ravi. The trek was glorious, despite some rainy days, and although we weren't sure we would get to see the peaks at ABC, the weather cleared just in time and we had an amazing sunrise there. What made the whole trip so special, though, were Tanka and Ravi, who remained cheerful at all times and went out of their way to make everything as good as it could be. This included setting a pace with regular breaks which made the walking completely manageable, modifying the itinerary so we could visit additional villages, getting up in the middle of the night to see if the sky would be clear for sunrise, and bringing a sense of ease and humour to all our interactions. We just loved the whole thing and are keen to return to Nepal for another trek. It was magical!Posted on Peter E27 October 2025Verified Above the Himalayas goes above and beyond expectations! From start to finish everything was perfect! Puru, the managing director, was always quick with his responses to my questions when I first contacted him about planning our trek, and he continued to check to see that everything was going well throughout. Our guide Tanka and porter Ravi were fantastic! Their friendly demeanor kept our experience lively and interesting the entire time and made sure that we were well taken care of. Even small details like Ravi coming in and double checking our rooms to see that we had left nothing behind before leaving each morning, and seeing that meals were prepared the way we liked them weren't overlooked. Tanka was also quite knowledgeable about the mountains, the people, and just about everything "Nepal". He enthusiastically shared stories about his family and Nepalese life in a general way.Although there was a clear itinerary each day, and for the whole trek, Tanka allowed for flexibility in terms of time and where to stay. He was even willing and able to make changes to same-day accommodation based on how far we anticipated hiking that morning. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our hike and I would definitely recommend Above the Himalayas for anyone considering a trek.Posted on Akane U25 October 2025Verified Amazing tour For me and my son, Pru thought of a four-day trekking tour. His interaction was very smooth. On the first day, I went with my son to Gandrouk, and on the second day, he went to a higher place (mulde view point, Poon hill) with his guide Ashok. Ashok was very kind and took me to various local places. The food was also very good.My guide, Tangka, was very kind and helped me a lot.I recommend this travel agency because it's great.Posted on Daniel F24 October 2025Verified Everest Base Camp Trek My friends and I just completed the EBC trek. From the time I met Puru at the Canada Place trade show in Vancouver BC, Canada I felt comfortable going to Nepal. His communications via WhatsApp were seamless answering all our questions. Everything went exactly according to plan. Our guide Suresh was amazing. He took very good care of us the whole time. From guiding us to making sure we had everything we needed to be happy. The food the whole way up and back was amazing! 5 ⭐️. Our 2 porters were great as well. I have a whole new respect and appreciation for what they do. They are the true hero’s to what we can do as a team. We chose the basic trek the lodging was to be expected. If I was to do again I would choose the luxury trek. The hotels in Kathmandu at the Hotel Aloft and the Hotel Lo Mustang were top notch as well as the buffets. Highly recommend this local company!Posted on adrienne h24 October 2025Verified Great tour, would recommend! My friend and I completed the 10 day Annapurna circuit with Above Trekking Himalaya. Buddha our porter was a little mountain goat, pocket rocket. When I got altitude sickness he carried my bag, as well as mine and my friend’s big pack. He was friendly and loved to played cards with us, always with a cheeky smile on his face. Sitaram our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and quite serious. He was always available if we had any questions and went above and beyond to try get us the best/quietest rooms in the tea houses. Puru was fabulous working behind the scenes to ensure our trip was as smooth as possible. He was very quick to respond to any messages. It was a great experience to see Nepal with some locals and I certainly appreciated their support when I succumbed to altitude sickness. They stayed close to us the whole time and checked in frequently making us feeling safe and supported the entire time.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
